Job Summary:
The buyer will support material planning and purchasing functions for an OEM of industrial process machinery. Day to day activities include obtaining quotes, placing purchase orders, and following-up with vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage daily purchasing activity; maintain inventory and job specific needs
Create and issue Purchase Orders
Participate in supplier sourcing and development
Participate and/or facilitate contract negotiations
Follow up with suppliers on pricing, delivery, terms, and invoicing issues as required
Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills:
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Experience with ERP systems (SAP Business One is preferred), Excel, Word
Ability to build and maintain working relationships with co-workers, customers, and vendors
Self-starter with a developed sense of urgency and diligence
Requirements:
Associates degree or equivalent work experience desired
Prior purchasing or planning experienced preferred
Able to work in an office environment but also deal with manufacturing personnel
