CPM is seeking a highly motivated Cost Accountant to support the finance function within our Thermal market segment. This role is responsible for cost accounting activities at our US and UK Thermal sites, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of manufacturing costs, inventory, and product costing while providing financial insight to support operational performance, cost control, and continuous improvement.
Initially reporting to the Operations Finance Manager, the ideal candidate will have strong cost accounting experience and a hands-on approach to operational finance.

CPM is seeking a highly motivated Cost Accountant to support the finance function within our Thermal market segment. This role is responsible for cost accounting activities at our US and UK Thermal sites, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of manufacturing costs, inventory, and product costing while providing financial insight to support operational performance, cost control, and continuous improvement.
Initially reporting to the Operations Finance Manager, the ideal candidate will have strong cost accounting experience and a hands-on approach to operational finance.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain and administer the standard cost system, including the setup, review, and update of bills of material (BOMs), routings, labor rates, and overhead rates
- Perform inventory accounting and control, including inventory valuation, reconciliations, cycle counts, physical inventories, and analysis of inventory reserves and obsolescence
- Manage and monitor production orders, including timely and accurate production order closures, review of labor and material postings, and resolution of variances prior to close
- Prepare and analyze manufacturing variances, including material usage, labor efficiency, labor rate, overhead spending, overhead absorption, and yield variances
- Support the business with cost estimates and analysis for customer quotations, including material, labor, overhead, and margin analysis to ensure accurate and competitive pricing
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting related to manufacturing costs, inventory levels, and production volumes
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Other ad hoc duties as and when required
Required Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Hands-on experience with standard costing
- Experience supporting monthly close and inventory accounting
- Strong understanding of BOMs, routings, absorption and manufacturing accounting
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle)
- Positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills in a team environment
- Motivated self-starter with ability to prioritize workload and manage deadlines
- Must be able to lift to 25 lbs.
