Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and influential Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Specialist / Manager to lead and advance our safety culture in our Lexington, NC manufacturing site. This high-visibility role is responsible for ensuring legal compliance, upholding CPM corporate safety and environmental standards, and acting as the critical link between corporate leadership and frontline employees. The successful candidate will be a confident communicator, a visible leader on the shop floor, and a trusted partner to both Operations and HR.
Key Responsibilities
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing or industrial HSE management role.
- Qualifications such as: OSHA 500, ASP/GSP, IOSH, NEBOSH, etc. provide a strong advantage.
- Experience overseeing remote teams or field-based service operations a strong advantage.
Technical & Legal Expertise
- Deep understanding of OSHA, ANSI, and EPA environmental legislation.
- Strong background in risk assessment, ISO systems (45001/14001), incident investigation, and compliance management.
- Familiarity with Lean/6Sigma tools is a plus.
Leadership & Communication
- Able to engage effectively with employees at all levels—from shop floor to boardroom.
- Skilled at balancing operational realities with safety expectations.
- Persuasive communicator capable of leading change and influencing without authority.
Analytical & Personal Attributes
- Methodical and structured in investigations, documentation, and corrective action planning.
- Approachable, decisive, and calm under pressure.
- Passionate about continuous improvement and committed to a zero-harm workplace.
