JOB SUMMARY:
Under general direction, the Project Engineer III is responsible for managing multiple, complex projects requiring a demonstrated leadership approach in process engineering, general design, project management, startup, and inspection; ensuring accuracy, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide project management efforts from conception through final startup of multiple projects by meeting contract timelines, tracking and minimizing project costs, assuring proper design and purchase of equipment, checking drawings, and having thorough documentation; ensure accuracy, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Travel as required to support project execution.  Provide technical, field assistance and/or training for customers in maintenance, installation, startup and operation of Crown equipment and connected processes.   May also include fabrication inspection.
  • Perform various engineering calculations and analyses related to process design and equipment sizing and selection.
  • Provide engineering support to customers, and to the Sales, R&D, and Aftermarket teams as a subject matter expert for the Crown engineered processes.
  • Respond to requests and work integrally with internal and external customers to provide efficient designs to meet project requirements.  
  • As required and as assigned, perform the functions of equipment design and fabrication drawing generation.
  • Train and mentor Level I and II Engineers.   Participate with interviewing, hiring and on-boarding of new engineers and designers, as needed.
  • Assist with troubleshooting equipment and process designs; review designs for improved performance and cost savings.
  • Manage design standards, best practices, specifications and requirements for fabricated and purchased equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in the oilseed extraction industry highly preferred. 
  • Exceed experience and capabilities of Level I & II (7+ years experience)
  • Proficient in the following skills:

-  Project scheduling, tracking and reporting

            -  Process Flow Diagram creation

            -  Piping & Instrumentation Diagram creation

            -  Plant Process design, layout and sizing

            -  Manage full expanded scope projects

  • Demonstrates professional integrity and ethics.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, customers, and vendors.
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical and commercial contracts.
  • Must be able to communicate in English fluently. Ability to communicate in a second language (European or Asian languages) preferred but not required.
  • Required knowledge in AutoCAD.
  • Strong Microsoft office skills.
  • Preferred knowledge in Autodesk Inventor, CAD Vault.
  • Ability to travel on an as needed basis – domestically or internationally up to 25% of the time, in office and industrial plant environments.
  • Capable of self-managing projects and setting priorities.  Takes initiative to manage multiple overlapping projects throughout varying execution timelines.
  • Ability and experienced in collaborating with cross-functional teams and across geographies, creating value for end customers, and driving operational excellence within areas of responsibility.
