Assistant Controller (12–18 Month Contract)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller for a 12–18 month contract to support post-acquisition integration and financial operations. This role is responsible for establishing and maintaining internal controls and policies, ensuring compliance with legislation and accounting standards, and identifying best practices within the organization. The successful candidate will provide support for general ledger and sub-ledger queries and report directly to the Controller.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Apply generally accepted accounting principles to solve complex accounting challenges
  • Exercise critical thinking and confident decision-making to implement internal policies and processes
  • Demonstrate strong numeracy skills, particularly in scheduling and accounting math
  • Communicate effectively through written and verbal channels, including coaching and training team members
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of accounting software and systems
  • Consistently meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Interpret and analyze large volumes of financial data for reporting and decision-making
Primary Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • CPA designation (active or inactive) or in progress
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, reporting, and internal controls
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with SAP Business One
  • Background in a manufacturing environment
  • Supervisory experience supporting a team

  • Experience transitioning accounting systems is an asset
  • Ability to balance fast-paced demands with financial timelines and prioritization
